No Shame in Seeking Help...
There Is No Shame in Seeking Help: God Wants You to Heal
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
There are moments in life when our hearts become wounded, our minds become overwhelmed, and the weight we carry becomes too heavy to bear alone. Whether we have experienced trauma, grief, abuse, betrayal, loss, or deep emotional pain, we may sometimes feel that we should simply pray harder, be stronger, or keep our struggles to ourselves.
But biblical teaching tells us something very different: we were never created to carry every burden alone.
The Bible repeatedly encourages us to seek wisdom, support, prayer, and healing. Galatians 6:2 tells us to “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Reaching out to a trusted person, pastor, counsellor, therapist, doctor, or support group can be an important part of that process.
God Works Through People
Sometimes we expect God to heal us in one dramatic moment. While God can certainly work miracles, He can also bring healing through people, counselling, community, wisdom, and the practical help available to us.
The story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25–37 reminds us that compassion often involves doing something for someone who is hurting. The wounded man was not told to simply endure his suffering. He was cared for, treated, and helped along the road to recovery.
Seeking help does not mean that we lack faith.
Seeking help can be an expression of faith.
You Don't Have to Hide Your Pain
Many people suffer silently because they are afraid of being judged or misunderstood. They may believe that admitting they are struggling means they are weak.
Yet Scripture reminds us that God is close to those who are hurting:
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
Your pain does not make you less valuable to God. Your tears do not disappoint Him. Your need for support does not make you a failure.
Healing often begins when we are courageous enough to say, “I need help.”
Healing Can Be a Journey
Healing does not always happen overnight. Sometimes it comes gradually—through prayer, Scripture, supportive relationships, professional counselling, forgiveness, healthy boundaries, and learning to see ourselves through God's eyes.
Jesus said:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
If you are hurting today, don't suffer in silence. Pray. Reach out. Talk to someone you trust. Seek professional help when you need it. Allow others to walk beside you.
God does not ask you to pretend that you are not wounded. He invites you to bring your wounds to Him.
There is hope beyond the pain. There is healing beyond the hurt. And there is no shame in asking for help along the way.
Your story does not have to end with what happened to you. With God's grace, healing can become part of your story too.
